The view from Fairlie is dominated by two laid up drill ships. These structures are far too large to be secured to the Peel Ports Hunterston Jetty and require multiple thrusters and engines to hold position. The engines and generators have been running continually since they arrived on Boxing Day 2020. Between them they consume a vast amount of diesel fuel oil, generate significant noise and pollute our atmosphere for no useful reason whatsoever. This is our communities reality of Scotland’s contribution to COP26 delivered by Peel Ports at Hunterstons state-of-art green energy park.
